Come be the joyful face that greets residents, volunteers and visitors at the Community Market! The Market serves our community by offering an abundance of snacks, drinks and frozen treats, as well as showcasing the beautiful, handcrafted goods made by our residents; all the profits from neighbor-made sales go directly to the artist, helping them to earn a dignified income. As a Market Volunteer, you’ll be a friend to our residents who frequent the store and an educator to visitors who want to learn more about Community First! Village. Your #1 responsibility is to be relational with anyone who walks through our doors, but your duties will also include…

– Opening and/or closing the market

– Running the cash register and helping neighbors check out with their groceries

– Re-stocking the shelves and keeping the market tidy

– Counting and handling cash

This opportunity is ideal for anyone looking to be part of Community First! Village in a more consistent, recurring volunteer role. Your first few shifts will be considered on-the-job training, so come prepared to learn and get to know our community!

Please note:

Anyone 18 or older is eligible to volunteer in the Market unaccompanied by a legal guardian and may handle/sell tobacco products.

Anyone under 18 MUST be accompanied by a legal guardian when volunteering in the Market.

Anyone under 18 may NOT handle or restock tobacco products, scan or sell tobacco products, or tender payment for transactions containing tobacco products.

Parking is available in the lot just past the entrance to Community First! Village. After parking, you may go directly to the Community Market to check in for your shift. We kindly ask that Market volunteers please allow for an extra ten minutes at the end of their shift for cashier balancing.

By signing up to volunteer, you are agreeing to Mobile Loaves & Fishes running a background check and the terms and conditions of the Mobile Loaves & Fishes Volunteer Agreement.
